Geography Didactics

Module leaders: Zbainos Dimitrios
Module Objectives
– Students are expected to form a picture of a scientific and focused teaching of the subject
of Geography as well as the challenges involved.
– Students are expected to gain some teaching experience
Course Contents
– Modern teaching and learning theories
– The 21st century skills especially with relevance to the subject of Geography
– Critical examination of the Greek Geography National Curriculum
– Critical study of school textbooks
– Comparison with curricula and textbooks from other countries.
Students are required to carry out:
– Micro-teaching (individual teaching and feedback on their fellow-students’ teaching
– Presentations of lesson plans and worksheets
Teaching and Assessment
– The module is approached in an interactive mode which includes actions by both the lecturer and the students.
– Assessment relies on the submission of lesson plans and worksheets.
– Micro-teaching in the lecture room.
